It’s International Women’s Day!

Below is a special prayer to mark Women’s World Day of Prayer (March 3rd 2017) from author, speaker and longstanding friend of Tearfund Elaine Storkey.

God of justice, we pray for women whose experiences of injustice have left them powerless and defeated, that your righteous power will change their lives.

God of love, we pray today for women whose years have been marred by abuse and oppression rather than love, and ask for your healing for their past and pain.

God of hope, we pray for those caught up in the spiral of poverty, hunger and homelessness, that global wealth will be redistributed, and their needs met.

God of peace, we pray for women who are victims of war, displacement and violence, that you will turn swords to ploughshares and your peace rule.

God of grace, we pray that you will challenge your church to be changemakers in our world, and work untiringly for your kingdom of justice, love, hope and peace,

In the name of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Tearfund are following Jesus where need is greatest, working through local churches to unlock people’s potential and helping them to discover that the answer to poverty is within themselves. When disasters strike, they respond quickly. They won’t stop until poverty stops.
