Join us for worship, prayer and teaching this morning, the second Sunday of Advent.
‘The Bethlehem Candle’: Duncan and Judi lead this service exploring the words of the story of the birth of Jesus from Matthew chapter 1. The Bethlehem candle – represents LOVE. The journey foretold here in Matthew’s gospel of Joseph and Mary could have taken many twists and turns. I’m sure we have read or at the very least heard the passage so many times, but have we ever stopped and wondered just how Joseph and Mary felt? What was Joseph going through when he heard of the news that the woman he was pledged to marry was with Child? What about Mary, who, let’s face it was a child probably aged around 12 or 13, was told that she would give birth to the Saviour of the world. Yet despite all this, they were bound by LOVE for one another, they were refugees who had so little, yet had so much. Journey with us as we discover the divine love that embraces Mary and Joseph.
Morning services at HLBC include a variety of music styles and singing, Bible teaching and prayer. Currently children aged 16 and under leave after 20–30 minutes to go to their own Sunday Club activities, and a creche usually runs at the same time for 3s and under. A baby room is also available at the back of the church during the service. Refreshments are provided after the service ends, usually between 11.20 to 11.30am.
