Informal support in reading, writing and conversation for speakers of other languages, in a safe and friendly environment for women.
English Drop-In is held on Thursday mornings from 10.00 to 11.30am in the Church Hall.
We aim to help speakers of other languages with English reading and writing skills. Anybody is welcome to come along, from total beginners to Entry 3 level.
What to expect
Everyone is in the same hall but we divide students into broad groupings of ability. Students are helped through reading and writing exercises with volunteer teachers helping and encouraging conversation. Our helpers are all very friendly and patient, and there is a gentle, relaxed environment for students to learn in.
The programme is quite informal and students can come when they wish – some come every week, others just for a few sessions. Several students are learning English at college and use the Drop-In for extra practice. There are no formal examinations and we regret to say that we cannot help with citizenship (we have no link with government bodies).
We can however provide a friendly, warm atmosphere to learn English in, plus some fun social activities.
